RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2007--Liquidmetal(R) Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:LQMT) announced today that an honor considered one of the highest accolades in the scientific world, election to The National Academy of Sciences, was recently bestowed upon California Institute of Technologies Professor and Liquidmetal Technologies board member Professor William Johnson. Professor Johnson, who is amongst four faculty members at Cal-Tech named to the academy, directed the research that led to the discovery of the Liquidmetal(R) alloy.
Established in 1863, The National Academy of Sciences is a private organization of scientists and engineers dedicated to the furtherance of science and its use for the general welfare. Professor Johnson's research includes the studies of metallic materials including Liquidmetal alloys, nanostructured materials and metal-matrix composites to name only a few.
