Liquidmetal Technologies Reaches Agreement With LVMH Watches & Jewelry Division For Use Of Liquidmetal Alloy In LVMH Luxury Brands
TAMPA, Fla., Jul 26, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Liquidmetal Technologies:

LVMH seeking to utilize Liquidmetal alloy characteristics in unique product designs

Liquidmetal Technologies (Nasdaq: LQMT), the leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of products made from amorphous alloys, today announced an agreement with LVMH Watches & Jewelry division to develop additional uses for Liquidmetal alloys in its broad product portfolio.

"We are delighted to see our relationship with LVMH grow, particularly because of its position as worldwide leader in luxury goods," said Liquidmetal Technologies' president and CEO John Kang. "This partnership validates the high quality and unique design and performance characteristics of our revolutionary alloys."

LVMH began working with Liquidmetal Technologies last year to develop a watch case for LVMH's premium TAG Heuer brand. Liquidmetal alloy has 2.5 times the strength of commonly used titanium alloys and 1.5 times the hardness of a commonly used stainless steel, making it ideal for luxury watch cases. Liquidmetal alloy combines the processing and net-shaping advantages of plastics with performance characteristics that exceed in many respects those of titanium and stainless steel, allowing for unique sophisticated designs such as watch cases.

Commenting on the partnership, LVMH Watches & Jewelry through TAG Heuer president and CEO, Jean-Christophe Babin said, "We are impressed with Liquidmetal Technologies and saw Liquidmetal alloy's benefits in our watch case designs, which allows us to be currently at the avant-garde of high technology, performance and innovation. As a result, we are looking at how the revolutionary material could be utilized in other accessories such as writing instruments, eyewear and other products throughout the portfolio of LVMH brands".

About Liquidmetal Technologies

Liquidmetal Technologies (www.liquidmetal.com) is the leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of products made from amorphous alloys. Amorphous alloys are unique materials that are characterized by a random atomic structure, in contrast to the crystalline atomic structure possessed by ordinary metals and alloys. Bulk Liquidmetal(R) alloys are two to three times stronger than commonly used titanium alloys, harder than tool steel, and relatively non-corrosive and wear resistant. Bulk Liquidmetal alloys can also be molded into precision net-shaped parts similar to plastics, resulting in intricate and sophisticated engineered designs. Liquidmetal Technologies is the first company to produce amorphous alloys in commercially viable bulk form, enabling significant improvements in products across a wide array of industries. The combination of a super alloy's performance coupled with unique processing advantages positions Liquidmetal alloys for what the company believes will be The Third Revolution(TM) in material science.
